Looking at 1939, we can’t post the information but those other children are there.

I wonder if this is the correct marriage:

December quarter 1919 Rochdale
Sarah Roberts and Richard Smith

Not sure if the Q was for me?

This is the 1939 on A* I referred too. https://www.rootschat.com/links/01t6n/

Added: have found him with family you mention..red line through, says see page 13 book 2. Looks like he is down twice.

I think this is the connection - going from tree info to the marriage & children Heywood found.

ROBERTS, SARAH   mmn    MCCAUGHTRIE
GRO Reference: 1897  J Quarter in BOLTON  Volume 08C  Page 384

Marriages Mar Q 1897
McCaughtrie    Thurza        Bolton    8c   478
Roberts    Edwin        Bolton    8c   478

1901- Westhoughton
Edwin Roberts 30 Head Flintshire, Wales (son of Dorcas & James Roberts)
Thurza Roberts Wife
Sarah Roberts   4   Daughter Westhoughton Lancs
Jas Roberts 1 Son

Can be found in 1911 with mother & siblings, grandfather is head - Thurza states widow.

Possible 1921 Sarah Smith b 1897 Westhoughton living Ramsbottom - unable to view full record.

1939 register has her birthdate as 1857 which would not be likely to have children in 1920s I think it is 1897 if you look at the 9 above. Includes names & birthdates for her children.

There is a remarriage in 1957 to James Charleston

Possible
Deaths Sep Q 1961
CHARLESTON    Sarah   age 63    Haslingden    10c   282

Sorry, no the question was for brigidmac.

Yes, I noticed the birthdate wouldn’t be right but I was still confused and wondering re the area.
Good finds there so looking good, Cas.

Brigidmac could you reread the post.

Sarah Roberts daughter of Edwin, granddaughter of Dorcas & James Roberts - Is mother to Thomas F C Smith born 22 march 1922. As in the tree you are working from, and also in the 1939 register with him.

Sarah remarried James Charleston the only mention of 'the in laws' was in relation to Sarah.

Sorry Caz. im still sleepy

I read the year 1857 and didn't see the correction

It looks like you have solved the mystery

"Minnie " was Sarah ROBERTS

Harriet's baby whether Rebecca or Mary Ann probably died .

Thanks so much
Will be able to add the smith line to the trees
The DNA matches already had them as matches to my Australian.relativr  but having them connected on both sides makes more sense

It was teamwork with Heywood, she found the marriage and all the children that lead to the 1939 that gave clues to solve. I just looked at what grandchild of Dorcas and James named Sarah that would fit.

To confirm you could get the marriage or one of her children births.

I would look at the 1921 also to get info on Richard Smith I think he may have been a bit older, possibly b 1878, but could be wrong as could not view record, just index.
