« on: Wednesday 22 May 24 15:40 BST (UK) »
Good afternoon,

A difficult surname has cropped up in the St Silas, Hunslet, Leeds, baptism register.

18 Aug 1872 Elizabeth [daughter of] William and Matilda Lal?

Any help gratefully received.

Regards,

Janet

Hi Steve,
That is what it looks like to me, but I cannot find anyone in FreeBMD with that surname up to 1980.

Baptism record says the abode was Grape Street, but I'm not seeing anything like that surname in the 1871 census in Hunslet.

Janet - Were you searching for anyone specific - which lead you to that baptism record? Or are you translating baptisms?  ???

I have already checked the 1871 and 1881 census for Hunslet, surrounding area, and the whole of Yorkshire.
