Marriage cert

Hope I'm on the right right forum.

I'm interested to know if you can find out about a marriage cert without buying it, ( incase it's not the right one).
Edward Howlett married Mary Ann Lee 1867 Hartlepool, thank you in advance for your help.

Only if they married in church and if the parish records are online. Or if there’s a mention in the local newspaper. Otherwise it’s buying the certificate.

Do you have a birth certificate for one of their children which would give their names? Birth certificates (digital images) for that time are available on the GRO for £2.50 so a cheaper option.

No parents mentioned. Try familysearch they may have the image?

No image available on FindMyPast, Ancestry or Family Search. 
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
Remember - "They'll be found when they want to be found" !!!

Do you mean local to Hartlepool? A local archives may do but I think (but not sure) Durham Records Online may be the only one.
Libraries provide the same online resources that we are looking at here.
