Tierney line?
« on: Sunday 26 May 24 19:47 BST (UK) »
Evening all!

I am after some help on locating the family of my 2x Gt Grandmother Mary Pouch or Pouche nee Tierney. I see from  Mary's wedding cert her father was a Patrick Tierney but that is all I have. I have Marys birth place as Clane, Kildare but that is it. I did an ancestry search but drew a blank?

I guess these names are probably common in Ireland but thought it worth a try.

Any help would be grand but I understand if its a brick wall.

Hello,
You haven’t given any dates. Is the marriage in 1893? George Pouche and Mary Tierney.

Where do you have a record with her birth in Clane?
Census Information is Crown Copyright, from www.nationalarchives.gov.uk

Some dates would help.
Is this the Mary Tierney who married George Pouche in 1893?

If this is her I see she was from Kildare but how do you know she was from Clane.

Church record of the marriage gives her father as Edward and mother as Eliza Doyle, living in Timahoe

Something gone astray re the father’s name

hey all sorry Im vague suffering with the worst tooth ache!  :-\

The marriage certificate Heywood has found is the correct document. I have seen and it states that Mary's father is Patrick Tierney, unless Im reading it wrong. As for where Mary was born or from? Im not sure where I got that info from? Maybe a census or an ancestry hint. I've not looked at this for a while so apologies.

George Pouche was born 1871

Hope the toothache is sorted.
Thought it might be a good idea to explain why we believe the father was Edward rather than Patrick.

The church image is the original as written by the priest on the day, the cert is a copy of information supplied to the registrar so errors are more likely on the cert as it’s a copy.
Also note the witness is Patrick so easy to pick up the name when copying.
Also the first two boys in the family are named George (father’s father) and Edward (mother’s father)
Add to that gaffy good finds.
