Llanllyfni Parish registers -Owen Evans

I am trying to find a birth record for my great grandfather Owen Evans born December 13, 1887 and also any information in regards to his parentage.

I know his father’s first name was Thomas because it is listed on Owen’s marriage certificate (as deceased) to Catherine Ann Parry in Pontypridd in 1919.

Reply removed - wrong Owen on 1891 entry

In 1901 & 1911 the real Owen is not with family

I have him in the 1911 census as a boarder in the Roberts household in Abertridwr.

1919 marriage certificate to Catherine Ann Parry age 33 located at 21 Church Rd in Abertridwr.

1921 Census at 109 Ilan rd in Abertridwr with his wife and children

1939 Census at 31 Hendre in Abertridwr as a widow with his son Arfon Evans. This is the census that listed Dec 13, 1887 as his birthday.


In speaking with other family members the only information anyone had was and I quote “he came down from North Wales to South Wales when the collieries opened”. He is a complete dead end. I believe some of his family may have immigrated to America as I have a dna match I can’t connect. Unfortunately her family tree is wrong and I don’t want to upset her by telling her that her dad she grew up with was not her biological father. 😬

This maybe a possible, I think you may need a birth registration to find parent/s. It would come under Caernarvon reg district.

A birthday in Dec maybe registered in the  March Q 1888. Also would not take the birthdate on 1939 register as gospel, it could be as much as a year or more out in my experience.

Incase it helps, Jane in 1901 age 65 b Llanddeiniolen, Caernarvonshire as servant to Pritchard family.

Still in Llanllyfni, no Owen. Can be traced back through census.
