Was Chad the one who said “ Wot- no bananas.?”

Who remembers “ Eye balls in the sky time”— The Perishers and Old Boot , in The Daily Mirror?

The name is familiar ,did he give racing tips?

Eye balls in the sky was one little crab saying to a shrimp in a rock  pool when ThePerishers( scruffy kids)  and Boot the dog were looking in the pool.

My parents did not take The  Mirror, but a neighbour did and saved them for our shop ,to wrap vegetables in etc.
I loved  the cartoons etc.
No pre packing in the 1940’s.

Viktoria.

Chalky White
I think it was during the holiday season that "Chalky White" would frequent seaside towns, you had to find him after you bought your paper of course,  the previous year I had seen this scenario  so when we went to Newquay the following year we hunted him again, when you had found  him you had to say, "make my way the Chalkie way "  the second year I knew the set up and went searching  on Newquay beach,  spied  a man carrying exactly the same ex army water carrier over his shoulder I think, said the appropriate  words and won myself £50, what i didn't realise was  my name was in the paper, I went back to work the following  week and my colleagues had seem  me in the paper, what I didn't like was anyone could have seen my location, my husband would have nothing to to do with this, so  I bought the 3 of us a posh ice cream sundae and spent the  rest on a gold chain which I think I still  have, he wasn't prepared to help me so I collected the reward.
Years and years before I think my mum told me a man called " loppy Lud" think it was who did the same thing
