I'm not sure about the dates of the changes of next of kin on David Alexander MITCHELL's service record, it's a shame they are not dated. It appears David and Alice Elizabeth divorced in 1945 (or started proceedings in 1945). The change of next of kin on page 3 is from his wife (Alice Elizabeth) to his sister (Mrs R YOUNG) - presumably this was due to the divorce, or separation. It is unclear when that change was made.  And yet on page 9 and page 15 it has his mother as next of kin, and this appears to be 23 April 1940, but also on page 1 (23 April 1940) he says his wife is next of kin. Confusing.

Indeed, and it's also confusing (at least to me) that David Alexander Mitchell and Alice Elizabeth Lewis have two marriage records with different registration numbers!

I doubt this is who you are looking for.
This lady is buried with Ellis and Hannah Alice (nee Foster) MAINSTONE.

There is quite a bit of information out there on Ellis and Hannah's families.

Thanks Merlin. I couldn't find anything about her, other than the fact that she was also known as Lizzie Mainstone, same Vic BDM death record. Back to square one then!

That's right. Her daughter, Dorothea Elizabeth Maud Torbey (nee Marsden) was probably running the business for her husband, Maurice Peter Torbey, who was a 'law clerk' but also an estate agent  'M. P. Torbey, sole agent, Railway-place, Fairfied.'
