Thomas Knott (Nott) & Mary - Marriage in Worcestershire?

After visiting the grave of my ancestor Ann Baker (nee Knott) yesterday, I decided to have another go at finding her parents on ancestry. A family member advised using Knott without the 'K' and I was able to find the baptism for Ann in Worcestershire. It said her parents were Thomas Knott and Mary. It looked promising, but there are no recorded marriages in Worcestershire for a Thomas Knott (Nott) and a Mary in the correct time frame. Any suggestions please?

You might try NUTT as well as Knott and Nott. Also look at other sources, freereg, family search, find my past as well as ancestry.

Hi Raybistre, Ann Knott their daughter was baptised on 3rd December 1815 so anything before that really. The only sensible wedding I could find was 8 Nov 1792 in Ripple, Worcester, but I'm fairly certain they wouldn't have waited 23 years before having any children! Thanks for the tips. I'll try searching Nutt and variants too.

You have not actually provided any information regarding Ann's marriage - not even the full name of her husband - perhaps because you do not think it is relevant, but there is information on these certificates that definitely can prove useful, such as the names of the witnesses (could be relatives of the couple) and the occupation of the father.

Did Anne marry Joseph Baker on 14th November 1837 in Kempsey, Worcestershire? If so, her father Thomas is described as "shoemaker" and the witnesses are Harriet M?les (x) and Thomas Hobbs.

The Ann baptised on 3rd December 1815 in Worcester has the father's occupation down as "labourer", which is more vague than shoemaker, but does not necessarily rule this baptism out as the correct one for your Ann.

Other children baptised to a Thomas and Mary (K)nott in the Worcester area within 20 years of this Ann include:
Elizabeth (1809) - Worcester St. Helen
Charlotte (1811) - Worcester St. Andrew
Elizabeth (1818) - Worcester St. Andrew

Also perhaps Mary Ann (1830) at Worcester All Saints, but the father is down as "porter" and there is a big gap.

Thanks for the tips. Yes, that's the correct marriage. I didn't think to include my Joseph Baker's marriage, but it makes sense to for additional names and information I'm learning as I go along!

I have Notts in my tree, from Staunton, Worcs including a Thomas, b. 1782.  I don't have a marriage for him but his father (my direct ancestor) was also a Thomas and was coincidentally married to a Mary.
