Thank you for your reply and other replies to me about my topic on Claypits Farm, Bulwark.   Thank you for letting me know  about this post from Gloucester Journal 7th February  1780 that would be very interesting to read.

 Just to let know I have put my topic on the general Monmouthshire one so if you send me any replies with attachments sent by yourself can be seen and read by me.  I am sorry for this inconvenience and appreciate your replies and information.

This article from 1780 links Vere Smith and Claypit to the name Dowle. As mentioned in the thread linked above, at the time of the tithe survey the occupier was John Dowle (the owner was the Duke of Beaufort.

14 February 1780: Gloucester Journal

summary: Vere Smith of Claypit was an executor for a Roger Dowle and requests all debts to be settled with him.
