Oh, that's so good to see, Tonepad!  Very many thanks for flagging that up.  Though a shame they don't provide forenames for the bride's parents - apart from the R.  Which I presume belongs to Mr Chambers!  As was the way of things then...

Kloumann,
You're doing all the hard work for me, and I'm getting more and more frustrated on Scotlands People trying to fill in the boxes in the right way to see that 1921 Census entry for the MacKenzie family in Forres.  Did eventually find the birth references for granddaughters Maureen Dawn and Heather Elaine (sent away for Maureen Dawn's at great expense last week).  Do you have any tips about how to nail things straight away.  Especially for that 1921 Census page and now for that 1908 marriage. Which I shall have a go at forthwith.  Many thanks again!
Keith

7 pounds buys 30 credits & you can view 5 records.

If you search 1921, McKenzie, both sexes, Moray, Forres brings up 89 names. Click on Ref to sort, The family are under ref 137/3/7

Oh, gosh, thanks...
At one point I had 5 Isabella MacKenzie's and 5 John MacKenzie's in separate searches for that 1921 Census page, but none of the references seemed to match up.  I do in fact have 26 credits to burn on there, so will dive in now.  And that's not a very extensive tree with Roderick and Olive on Family Search, but nothing seems to disagree.  So far...

Eureka! At last, and I see now why I couldn't get a handle on Roderick.  The enumerator has written him down as "Rod".  Perhaps someone knew then that this sort of thing might one day cause punters on Scotlands People to squander too many credits looking for particular individuals by not being able to key in the precise entry...
But I do like the way that ages are given to the exact month, too.

A very well spent £1-50p may I say!
And now after putting in the McKenzie version on the surname rather than the MacKenzie version which the Scotlands People website didn't respond to, I now have that informative 1908 Forres marriage between John and Isabella Allan.
The certificate calls the place Forres in the County of Elgin.  Whereas I looked this up under Forres, Morayshire.  Confused about the geography of the region therefore.
I also see that the marriage took place at Isabella's home address of 4, South Street, Forres.  Was this common practice then for the minister to administer the wedding rites "at home"?
