No particular year. Just want to trawl for death notices of various ancestors and wondered what was the cheapest way to do that within the Belfast Telegraph archives.

MollyC says newspapers will be free to access on FindMyPast on 8 - 11 Nov. I'll try then and see if it works.

I suggest you register (for free) with FindMyPast beforehand.  You can do some searches just to familiarise yourself with the system but you will only retrieve a few lines of OCR text with a reference.  However if you find anything likely, copy it temporarily into a document, then go back from the 8th when you should be able to view and download it.

I also suggest not limiting yourself to one newspaper title, but instead search the place of publication, or the county, depending upon what you expect to find.

Regarding Ancestry you probably need more than a basic subscription to see most Newspapers. So using Findmypast would be the better option unless you have newspapers in your Ancestry subscription.

I do and I either get a hint to a newspaper item or I use the Search function and The Belfast Newsletter turns up on a list of databases to search. Probably because I have used it before. When I choose the BN database I can search by name or just browse issues from around the dates of interest. But only up to 1925.

However I also get hints to many newspaper items  that when I try to open them I am told I need a more comprehensive subscription.
