Thanks Alan, yeah I knew that, but he wasn’t on the ship when they were rescued, but told stories about rescuing the royal family. My guess is he heard stories from other ship mates that were on HMS Marlborough at the time. I also found a record that said the ship did go back in April 1920 to Sochi to help refugees. It didn’t say if they were royal refugees or not. I wonder if other royals were helped later. He always said they rescued Prince Alexei and they had to hide him below deck as nobody could find out he was alive. However, that must have been a story he liked to tell as they have now proved he died along with his family.
