I did see as I was trawling around, an Elizabeth Hogan aged 7 living with her mother, another Elizabeth Hogan, a widow, and HER father William Ashwell, at Ashton Under Lyne.

How frustrating for you.

Goldie61, I cannot see them on Ancestry anywhere - is there an address or anymore info that would help me find them, maybe they are incorrectly transcribed on Ancestry.

Thanks, Luke

Perhaps then Mark could reduce his age by 10 years on his second wedding certificate and list himself as a bachelor rather than a widow.

Assuming he is a widow

I note there's an Elbth Dale b c1855 in Bollington on 1901; an inmate in Manchester Workhouse. Married.

Similar entry in 1911

Hi gnorman
I agree with you that the 1891 family you have highlighted is the right one

I also see no other Albert of the right date and place of birth nor do I see Eliza/Elizabeth of the right date and place of birth.

If you look at the 1901 census Mark gives an age which is in my opinion closer to the truth. 1854.

Finally found it again!
It's the 1861 Census, so yet again ages 10 years out.
I don't have Ancestry.
This is on familysearch.

What proof do you have that the marriage of Mark Dale and Elizabeth is the one with Elizabeth Hogan and not the one with Elizabeth Morgan in 1874 please?

Surname    First name(s)        District    Vol    Page
Marriages Mar 1874   (>99%)
Crowder    Mary Ann        Macclesfield    8a   215
DALE    Mark        Macclesfield    8a   215
HART    John        Macclesfield    8a   215
Morgan    Elizabeth        Macclesfield    8a   215

If Mark was born in Bollington Macclesfield would be a more logical place for a marriage.

What was Mark’s occupation on the certificate with Elizabeth Hogan.

Isn’t it the births of the children?

Sorry it does not take much to confuse me. The main thing that confused me was  the occupation of Mark on one important record stated as a coal miner when everything else says he worked in the cotton industry.

Also just realised my answers were also based not knowing who the op’s 2x great grandmother that this is based on actually was

I havent actually got anything on Elizabeth Hogan or her family before her marriage

Why does the Catholic baptism of Agnes (born 29 May 1896) in Stockport say Elizabeth's maiden name was Lynch?
