Musicians

Hi
My gr gr grandfather Joseph Farmer was a Musician. In 1861 he was said to be a Professor of Music (living in chelsea).  On his death 1898 he was a flute player. His son Frederick was a trumpeter in the 2nd Life Guards and grandson also a musician. His wife was a vocalist. Its possible he had a brother John (1851 census) also a musician.  Where can I find out more about Joseph's work? I am aware of the military sources.  Is there a listing or alumni list of Professor appointments?

Many thanks
regards

I don't know if you'll find anything helpful in the following page of (mainly) theatre/music hall links
