Thank you Sandra and PB for all this wonderful help. The newspaper notices are great to have. There are some minor discrepancies such as Edward Strawson’s marriage happening in Canada although his death notice says that he arrived in Canada with a young wife. Sadly, this family did not have good luck with the sons who all died young. Newspaper says Walter was the fourth son of David and Charlotte, but I believe there were only three sons. There are only three on the different censii is at any rate.
From what I understand from a descendant of one of David’s siblings, Mary Annie, the rest of the siblings either went to New Zealand or stayed in Ireland. Hence the reference in Walter James’s death article to New Zealand. I don’t know much about his siblings except for Margaret Johnston who married Robert Johnston in Ireland Nov 20, 1879 and then emigrated to New Zealand on December 31, 1879 as per findagrave, the parents of David and Margaret being David Johnston and Elizabeth Dixon/Dickson. I have the Death Certificates of Robert and Margaret.
The father David was born about 1827 probably in Mayne, Co. Tyrone, married Elizabeth on April 10, 1851 in Pomeroy and then died November 22, 1886 in Crosh, district of Omagh,  County Tyrone. His father was William as per the marriage record. I have father David’s  one sentence death notice and an article about his land being sold in 1887 and the family planning to depart for New Zealand.  Elizabeth had predeceased David, dying July 31, 1876 in Omagh, Co. Tyrone.

I looked for Edward Asher David Johnston's widow Edith in 1931 and found her with a son Edward age 8, a daughter Noreen, age 5, and looks like adopted son Fred Patterson. As per ancestry, Noreen died July 2, 2011, not sure if married.

Burial record for David…

At St Aidan’s Church, Ville Emard (an area in Montreal)

David Johnston, husband of Marie Nicholls, of 6257 Jaques St, Montreal P. Q., died at the Moores Home - Montreal on the fourth day of March nineteen hundred and thirty nine and was interred in Mount Royal Cemetery by the undersigned on the eigth day of the same month and year - aged 75 years. M Ellis (I think) Rector.
Witnesses Stanley Larman and Edward Johnston

The Moore Home appears to have been a hospice or something similar.

If you have access to Canadian records on Ancestry I can explain how to find the original.

Looks like Noreen married a man named Albert Morgan, as per voter's list of 1974. Oh, I see you beat me to it, Sandra. Thanks again for your fabulous help, with obits for her mother and property notice for Noreen.
thanks to you, Sandra, we now have Edith's parents' names. And tons of other information.
Now, you have found Edward's obit in 2013. Great! 3 children. thank you.
And thanks, PB, for David's burial information. I do have access to ancestry, World Wide subscription. I would love to see the original.

OK, then..

Look up the marriage of Stanley William Larman 1924 Quebec, Canada and click on the image.

St Aidan and the year should appear at the top.

Click on the year and scroll down to 1939 and click on it.

Then go page by page through the 1939 records using the arrow center right. The record should be on image 8.
