Hi Carole
Perhaps Siely will get hold of it from ScotlandsPeople and let us know if it's him or not.

OK, Francis Russell was indexed under the two names when he died.
1994, Glasgow, Martha St, ref 607 / 200
Age is 74
Francis Russell Davenport, mmn Russell
Francis Russell Irving, mmn Russell

General point. In this day and age requesting  a DNA test is not unusual. No intention to cause unnecessary tensions but there is justification.

I would want to know why if someone asked me to do one.  You say there are justifications, does it directly affect you

I have no opinion re the DNA and family dynamics.
My criticism is your poor research, posting this several posts into the thread:

“We suspect that child shown as Christine Margueritte Seabrook on birth cert. to Victor J. Seabrook and Ivy M. Davenport in 1939/40 was in fact informally adopted from one of Ivy's siblings of which Robert James Davenport b. 1896 is the only brother amongst many sisters.”

You presumably had not checked the birth of the child nor the earlier death of RJD - wasting people’s time.
