49 Lime Street

1851 Robert Woodward 66 Retired Wharfinger born London Middlesex.

Not a Tailor perhaps someone else could read the will I may have misinterpreted.

Edmund Goddard was born 1809 in Portsea. Married Susannah Andrews at St George in the East on 22 Jan 1839. Edmund's father was a ships chandler.

In 1851, 61 and 71 he was a Ham dealer.

Think that's the right one.

Jonas Woodward son of Samuel born 1810 married Christiana Knight, also born Portsea. Her father was a ships chandler.

There is mention of a Robert WOODWARD, tailor of Aldgate Ward on a jury at a trial at the Old Bailey in 1830.

Modified to add:
Looks like it could be the correct Robert WOODWARD at Lime St in the 1841/1851 census. In 1833 he is bankrupt "Robert Woodward of Lime-street-square, tailor and shipowner ..."

A Mary Ann WOODWARD aged 54 of Lime Street was buried at St Mary Abchurch on 3 Feb 1842.

Found a will for Jonas WOODWARD dated 1806. He is father of Samuel, Robert etc. mentions his sons Samuel, William, Robert and daughter Mary Ann, plus a guy called William Alderman. His wife Elizabeth was still alive as well. Jonas was buried at St Mary Abchurch on 26 Jun 1806.

There were two other sons Jonas and Joseph, plus a sister Elizabeth Pluckrose WOODWARD. They must have died young I think. Can't find them.

Looks like Robert might have married Sarah BRETNALL 31 Oct 1812 at St Mary at Lambeth.

Son Robert Bretnall WOODWARD baptised 19 March 1815 at St Mary Abchurch. Robert a tailor. Was buried there a couple of months later.

Sarah died at Lime Street in 1820.
