1861 & 71 census - VANSTONEs
« on: Wednesday 14 September 05 10:05 BST (UK) »
Hi All

Could SKS try and find my VANSTONE family on the 1861 or 71 census.

In 1881  I have John VANSTONE aged 50 born Plymouth with wife
                         Mary aged 48 born Stonehouse

John was a plumber H M Dockyard.

Can't find their son John Francis born 1859 in Devonport on 1881 census?
Hoping he will turn up with his parents on 1861 / 71 census.

Any help much would be much appreciated.

Arno.

Many thanks for your info.

I just wonder if I have the correct wife for John VANSTONE off the 1881 census?

The only info I'm sure of comes from the marriage cert of

John Francis VANSTONE 30 Sick Berth Steward at 69 Princes St,
father John Richard VANSTONE a Dockyardman
                         ----   married      ---
Alice Maude Edith HILL 22  ,same address ,
father John George HILL an Engineer

Married at the Parish Church St. Pauls Devonport on 4th October 1888.

Also on the 1901 Census - John F.       42 born in Devonport and
                                           Alice M. E.  34 born in Tavistock.

Could you just check on the census for a John Francis VANSTONE b1859
with a father John Richard VANSTONE b1831 ??

Somewhere in Devon?

John was also known as Francis !!

Many thanks Arno

Hi Alli

Many thanks for all the info.

I have recieved some census information from Tricia. Can I just check a few differences between the 2 lots of info?

1871 census - I have living at 16 DOCKWALL??
                       SAWYER Dockyard ??
            also - Where is  Adelaide M VANSTONE b1854 ??
                       Elizabeth A b1844 not aged 17  ??

1861 census - I have John R - not Richard J VANSTONE b1820  ??

What do you think ? Which is correct ?

Regards Arno
