Private Robert Bell, 4th Battalion Northumberland Fusilers
Army no. 1578
Died 19 July 1915

CWGC entry as R Bell
https://www.cwgc.org/find-records/find-war-dead/casualty-details/164950/r-bell/

Soldiers Died gives birthplace as Mickley, Northumberland.
He should be in Registers of Soldiers' Effects on ancestry.

Announcement in the Newcastle Evening Chronicle, 27 July 1915, seems to confirm it is him, though the free text is not good (I think it names parents as Routledge and Hannah)

Also something in the following day's Chronicle, 28 July 1915. Age 20.

Have you considered purchasing the digital images of their respective births to give you an exact dob. This could well give good leads in the 1939 register.

I think this will be necessary for the girls.
Was Bella born 23 May?
I can't find Margaret Whittle in 1939 :(
There may though be a possibility or two in the later death indexes, those from 1969 onwards.

1901 shows all 3 b Hexham but 1911 shows Prudhoe

Mother Hannah & son Robert are together in 1911

Margaret is Maggie in 1911

Isabella not yet found in 1911.

You would have to look for marriages for Margaret & Isabella to find them in 1921.  Details from the 1921 census that require a subscription are not allowed

Thank you for the reply, I see Hannah ( Widow) and Robert at Mickley in 1911, not seen Margaret (Maggie ) Nothing after 1911 comes up as likely. Will keep looking.
