Waters/John (I’m Stuck!)
« on: Sunday 16 February 25 19:51 GMT (UK) »
Hello Everyone, i believe a few of my cousins have attempted to re-search this specific Part of our blood-line however we’ve all hit dead ends!

Recently i purchased a few Death Certificates which pieced together some clues however still nothing moving forwards

I’m trying to move backwards with my 3x Great Grandfather Mark Waters born C.1842 in Llangyfelach/Morriston and died 05/08/1882 at 30 Landeg Street Morriston,

The informant was listed as Thomas Waters (Brother) residing at Old Bridge, Morriston

This than pieced together the family consisting of:
 Thomas Waters (Head) B. 1805 Llangyfelach/Morriston D. 03/11/1879 Edward Street

Ann Waters (Mn John) B. 1809 Llangyfelach D. 26/05/1871 Morriston Banwell Street

Children ~
Hannah B.1831
Thomas B.1833
Ruth B.1835
William B.1837
Mark B.1842
Ann B.1844
Rachel B.1847
John B.1850

It Appears the family were residing at Banwell Street until the Death of Ann (Informant Sarah Waters mn Beynon residing at Woodfield Street, Wife of Thomas Waters B.1833)

(Got this from Mark’s Death Reg, family were residing at Old Bridge (Thom b.1833, Wife Sarah & Son Thomas B.1855 Morriston)

Thomas b.1807 becomes widowed

And than around 1879 Thomas is residing with Son John Waters at time of death at Edward Street,

1881 Cenus shows John Waters (son) & his wife Mary Waters residing at edward street with two Daughters Mary B.1871 & Elizabeth Ann B.1868
(Interested in this line going downwards)

This is all i have to show moving forwards, hopefully someone will be able to piece the bloodline going further and solve this mystery

Ashton
Jensen, Perry, Taylor, Waters, Foot, Andrews, Pilcher

Do you mean 1871 census?  I can't see them in 1881, however i can see this family at 4 Edward Row

John Walters  30
Esther Walters    34
Elizabeth Ann Walters   13
Mary Walters  10
Rachel Walters  8
William Walters  6
Hannah Walters

Piece 5354, folio 18, p34

1891 - Byng(?) St. Surname looks more like Watters. I can find several birth registrations using this spelling

John Mathews  40
Ester Mathews    42
William Mathews   16
Hannah Mathews   11
Thomas J Mathews  8
Mark Mathews    6
Margret Mathews  2

Piece 4474, folio 89, p23

1901 - 24 Pwll St

Esther Watters    50    Wife
Wm Williams          24      Son Of Wife (Step Son)
Hannah Watters    19

John and Mark might be over in Treherbert as Walter (b Swansea)

Mark marries in Treorchy in 1910 - his and his father's surname is edited from Walters to Waters

What was Esther’s Surname? I can definitely see how the family pieces together, especially having the same names of John’s Children as his siblings,

Ash
Jensen, Perry, Taylor, Waters, Foot, Andrews, Pilcher

1901's surname for William would suggest she was a Williams, but the birth regs point to her maiden name being Lewis.
