Peter lew Neilson
« on: Wednesday 26 March 25 18:17 GMT (UK) »
My third cousin once removed, Peter Lew Neilson, died July 16, 1977 in Vernon, BC. at age 32 while hanggliding. I am told that there was a human interest article about him published in the Red Deer Advocate of July 29, 1977. Peter was born in Red Deer and had wife Judy Armstrong. Would like to know what may be in the article. Thanks for any help. Peggy

This one is 22 July 1977 not the 29 July as requested.

Thanks Sandra, so much. I have a feeling that the human interest article was actually the obit for Susan Mae Blakley, formerly Neilson, nee Rogers. Funny how both sides of my family spent time in Red Deer,  Alberta. Maybe even knew each other even if didn't know they were related. My Dad moved there from Quebec about 1918 for about 10 years.

He appears to have been known as Lew...Lots of images of him on this video & a few news items.

Apparently his son is also a do-all competitive type as well...

adding:
Red Deer has had several oil & gas booms which creates jobs in and outside the industry & has attracted workers from all across the country. Some move there permanently, some just go there to work in the summer.

Your very welcome. It was a very interesting experience Peggy.  Never known anything like that in my life time.
