Hi Chris my Kerr root's are as follows, John Kerr bn abt 1780 Kirkmahoe,married Catherine Halliday on 23/07/1805, children Thomas bn 13/03/1808,Robert bn 03/01/1810,Francis bn abt 1813 Closeburn. Francis Kerr married Marion Chasneyon 14/12/1828,children William bn 11/08/1830 Tinwald,John bn 13/07/1834 died 29/06/1913, James 02/03/1837,Thomas bn 8/11/1841,David chr 25/02/1850. John Kerr married Janet Rodgerson 0n 29/05/1863 at St Mungo, children all bn St Mungo Marion bn 16/11/1863, Robert bn 13/03/1865 (m) Mary Anne Towlan,Francis bn 08/01/1867 (m) Harris Duff (nee Fraser) on 25/11/1885,William bn 03/08/1869,David bn 01/07/1871, Isabella bn 07/06/1873 (m) John Kerr on 07/09/1894, John bn 06/05/1876 (m) Mary Alston on 19/05/1905,Thomas bn 28/04/1878, James bn 04/07/1880.   My g.g.grandparents were Francis and Harris Kerr. All this information was given to me by Beryl Giles (g.granddaughter of Mary Anne Towlan) from Australia.

I can't believe I've finally found a reference to the Towlan family.  My greatgrandfather Walter Towlan married Margaret Kennedy in 1875 at Craigmuie, Balmaclellan.  My grandmother Annie was born at Craigmuie in 1880, and the family emigrated to Canada via the Horn about 1886. If anyone has  more information regarding this family it would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, it is.  Thank you so much. I will contact the people on the other forum. I guess all the Towlans are related as there seem to be so few of them, at least here in Canada.
