James Knights Yarmouth 1851 census
« on: Tuesday 20 September 05 13:50 BST (UK) »
I'm looking for James Knights in 1851. James was born about 1810 and was married to Elizabeth. They had had 2 children by 1851. Samuel and Charlotte.

I've found them in 1861 in Great Yarmouth no. 9 Row 142. James was a fisherman I think( described as seaman in 1871).

Well, in 1851 we see James aged 41 and Elizabeth aged 40 living in Row 133 with their children aged from 20 to 2:
Eliza, Maria, Esther, Samuel, Mary, Emma, Charlotte and Martha.  As if that weren't enough in the house, they had a lodger by the name of Matthew Patterson aged 21.

These were not generally big houses, so not a pleasant place to live, especially as both men were mariners.

Best wishes.

Oh by the way, the only James Knights who married an Elizabeth in Norfolk indexes around the right time, was James Knights and Elizabeth Pye, married in Carleton Coleville in 1833.

Hiya,
I'm new to this site so sorry if this is inappropriate for the thread but it seems like we have a common ancestor. James Knight is my direct ancestor by 7 generations :)
