Hi Martin

I hate to be the barer of bad news but are you sure about the father? - from the index to baptisms in Oxford City 1800-1837 the only Thomas Frederick James at that time was baptised March 24th 1815 at Holywell church the illegitimate son of Harriet James (otp)

Hi Debbie,

Thanks for this. Not bad news, just interesting detail.

The certificate for Thomas's first marriage in 1841 just says 'deceased' for the groom's father. However, the certificate for his second marriage in 1856 says 'Bulkeley James, library clerk'. Seems a bit of creative fiction on his part!
Are there anything other children of Harriet?

Martin

Hi,

Having searched the marriage index for oxfordshire, there is no marriage for a Bulkeley James.

Paula
