My other half found a 13 year old rele had snapped a sappling in half in the late 1800's, he got 5 years hard labour.

What a pity modern day vandalism doesn't seem to merit punishments on such a scale in this country (did I really say that...? Must be having a bad day...)

Found a rellie in mid 1700's who was arrested and fined and bound over to keep the peace on quite a few times because he was trampling the common grazing land with his geese and was armed (probably protesting at the enclosures) in Lincolnshire.  He was also the local ferryman and was a publican as well!

Only found him because of searching the access to archives website.
