Saich
« on: Wednesday 21 September 05 18:12 BST (UK) »
There appear to be two families of Saich in the Uk which arrived independently.

One is based on East London and Essex and I know very litle about that branch.

The other seems to have originated from an immigrant to Ruislip from Ghent in Belgium in the 17th century.  I have a 90% tree for one branch of that family mainly based in what is now the London Borough of Hillingdon.  There are few people around Harefield who I haven't managed to connect.  This branch of the family extends to Ireland and South Australia.  There is also a Tasmanian branch whose origin I haven't determined and would welcome information about.

All of these branches have of course spread in the 20th century.

In post WW II, England there is a
SAICH - ZELLEY connection.
The Zelley in question is part of
the William Walter Zelley - Sarah Ann Austin
branch of the Wandsworth - Battersea area.

None of the information that you provided matched anything that I have in my files.  Do you have any more information e.g. a specific marriage.

A lot of the families that I have on file stop before the 1940s but prior to that period based on the fact that the Essex branch is about twice the size of the Middlesex one I reckon to have covered about 25% of the Saich families worldwide.  I have not attempted to construct the Essex branch into a single tree but I do have some bits and pieces.

David:
Does the 1931 marriage of Frank Saich &
Ivy Zelley ring any bells.

Sorry the marriage means nothing to me.

I have three births on file which might match but know no more about them.

Francis George Saich 1898 West Ham
Frank Henry G Saich 1897 West Ham
Frank Clarence Saich 1899 Romford

I suspect that these are just extracts from the GRO which were made by one of my contacts.

As the above listed pre-1900's are all Essex ones, that doesn't mean that they aren't connected to the one living on the South Bank
in the Lambeth or Southwark region.

Take the William & May Saich family of Lambeth and the various children such as William, John and Richard, wouldn't it be interesting to determine
how they are connected to Walter Saich of the "Neville Arms" in Essex
or the Frank E SAICH that married Ivy in the 1930's.

Does the following match with your William and May in Lambeth at all?

G7)  William (Mark) Saich born 1887, died 15 Feb 1976, married May Cumberpatch (Min)who was born at Wrotham Kent.  1914 5 Chiltern View Villas, Cowley Rd, Uxbridge.  Later lived in Manor Park, East London, where in the 1930s he was a bakery roundsman delivering bread by horse and cart.  Both are buried in the City of London Cemetery at Wanstead.  Children:

G7.1)       Dorothy Saich born 1911 married Stanley Barrett who died before 2004, sons Ronald and Terrence and daughter Maureen.  She was living a home in Newberry Park Essex in 2004.
G7.2   Edna Saich
G7.3   William Edlin Saich  born 14 Oct 1914

The references are into my Ruislip tree.

I think it would be a good idea to set up a SAICH Site at Tribal Pages!
