« on: Wednesday 21 September 05 20:34 BST (UK) »
Hi - I am trying to trace my ancestors:

John Neil - born about 1813 Banbury

Mary Ann Pain - born 15 May 1814 Banbury ( parents William and Sarah )

They married on the 22 May 1831 - Banbury

if anyone can throw any light on their parents I would be very grateful

Thanks Anne Ford

I have the baptisms parish regs for Banbury 1812 backwards to 1700, couple of years out I am afraid but have found the following relating to Pain.

Jan 21 1812 William and Sarah twins son and dau of William chimney sweep and Sarah.

21 July 1805 Hannah daughter of William and Sarah

26 June 1803  Elizabeth dau of William and Sarah

28 Dec 1800 John son of William and Sarah

If I find any more

Hi MJB

I really appreciate your help re your 2 replies.  Sorry, I forgot to let you know the district for John Neal, and yes it is the parish of Neithrop.

I don't know if I am pushing my luck but if you have any leads on John Neil and his parents I would be very grateful.

I have taken the information for him from the 1861 census.

The information on William and Sarah - do you have the name of the parish church so that we can visit?

Kind regards

Anne

Hi Anne ...

I had a look for Mary Ann's parents on the OFHS's Marriage Index - this is the only William PAIN(E)/PAYN(E) + Sarah marriage in Banbury in the late 1700s:

19 DEC 1796 - William PAIN (weaver) to Sarah KNIGHT
