1851 look up - Stafford - Mellor

Hi there

Can someone please look up the following:

William Stafford born about 1806 in Mellor, occ Stone Mason. Wife Mary born same year. Daughter Sophia born 1836. In 1841 they live at Paradise in Mellor.

Not sure when Willam died, but he should still be alive in 1851 - I know he died before 1861.

No sign of them in the 1851 census index for Mellor. Where were they in 1861?  There are only three Sophia Staffords in the whole index but none are yours.

In 1861 they (Mary, her daughters Mary, Sophia and Jemima) are living at Hague Bar in Beard Ollerset, so its a possibility they might be in Beard Ollerset.

what were the details of the other Sophia's?

Ages are 12,11 & 7 but I have checked for their parents and they are not William & Mary

The following extracts from my SHIRT family notes might be of interest to you:

Peter Shirt born Bridgeholm Green13 Feb 1808, bapt 6 Mar 1808 Glossop, Chinley Independent, died 11 Aug 1861 Haggate Royton Oldham, a cotton carder who married 30 Oct 1831 Hannah Stafford at Glossop. (She was born in Mellor in 1810.  In 1881 she was a widow living with her son Benjamin and she died 3 Mar 1886, at 125 Rochdale Road, Royton, Oldham

William Shirt born 23 Nov 1817 married Mary Stafford (born 1818 Mellor, sister of Hannah who married Peter, she was buried at Royton 16 Mar 1886???)
