Hello Casalguidi,

Thank you for your prompt reply and I hope that you haven't received my reply to you twice. My g.g.grandfather John French came to Australia on the "Emporer" in 1851. His Parents were Henry and Mary French . On his death certificate it stated that he came from Sussex, but after much exhaustive searching I cannot find the right family. I have been in constant contact with a lady in Sussex of the same name and between both of us we have drawn a blank. Where John lived in the latter part of his life we have found another French family in the same area and they were from Kent. Looking at the FREEbmd it shows that a Henry and Mary French died in Dartford (Henry's ref. is Vol.2a, page 241 & Mary's is Vol.2a, page 198)
and as they were both Mariners I thought that Dartford may be a possibility.

I am looking for a Marriage for Henry FRENCH and Mary (surname not known)
abt. 1825-30. MARY was from Kent and Henry from SUSSEX. Henry was born abt. 1795 and Mary 1793.
Mary's birthplace is stated as Coatham but I think it is meant to be Chatham.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
