Hi Pam

I haven't been on line for a while however, I do have an Aitken in my line, George Aitken bn 1828 in Broughton, Midlothian, married Janet Cairns. They were married July 8, 1851 St Cuthberts, Edinburgh, Midlothian.  My records show that George died in 1882.  In 1852 they traveled to Australia on the William and Mary (I believe my records show).  The only other item I have picked up was that his father was Robert Aitken and mother Isabella Borthwick.  They had a number of children of which one was my ggrandfather.

I am sure it was also your mother who picked up the Brough family bible some time back.

Not sure if there is any connection but certainly worth looking at.

Hi Jan,

I haven't found their burial specifically - I would assume Kirknewton Kirkyard but I don't know sorry.
