problem with installing PAF
« on: Wednesday 28 September 05 11:35 BST (UK) »
I thought I would give PAF a try and downloaded
PAF5Englishsetup.exe to drive D

got part way through the setup and get the following message
'the InstallShield Engine(ikernel.exe) could not be installed.
the system cannot read from the specified device'

any suggestions anyone ?

I assume drive D is the partition on your hard drive and not the CD Rom.  I think some programs expect to be installed to C drive and that if ran from elsewhere will give you the error you experienced   Because it is LDS I think that may be the case.  Try it from C drive and see what happens.

Cheers

Somehow it started working this weekend.

Last week I started investigating deleting the temporary files folder content, as I had read this tip elseswhere. But I never actually did it.

But somehow I must have cleared something as not only is PAF working but my google toolbar autofill fields disappeared.
