CURRIE Family of Co Londonderry
« on: Thursday 29 September 05 11:50 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find more information about the currie family  of co londonderry. I know they lived in londonderry around 1900 and later moved to coleraine. I think my great grandparents are buried in Glendermott cemetery in derry(new). Their names were William and Margaret and I think William was a blacksmith. If anyone can help I would be extremely grateful.

Hei there Carol,

Here is a David R. J. Currie of Portstewart.
Coleraine Academical Institution would like to know where he lives.
I wonder, is he a descendent of  William and Margaret ???

Hi! I have a Margaret Jane Currie married to a Robert McIlmoyle in Co. Londonderry.

They had children Robert, Jane, Sarah, Matthew, Andrew, Margaret, Thomas, Elizabeth & William. Robert - the oldest - was born 1875...so the parents must have been born c1850.

Jane - the second child - is my wife's g-grandmother.

Please get in touch if this means anything!

Kind regards,
William

I have a Catherine Jane Currie also from County Londonderry. She is the only Currie in my tree so far.  She married James Johnston some time before 1820 and I estimate her birth between 1795 to 1800. I have been able to narrow the area she lived down to Garvagh, Parish of Errigle. though she could have been born away from that small townland. If you get back that far, keep me in mind. :-*

I have a James Johnstone and Catherine Curr or Currie who were married and living in Killawen in the Parish of Erigle.  Among their family they had two daughters Eliza b 1817-1819 and Jane b 1820-1821.   These entries can be found on: www.familysearch.org but unfortunately are patron submissions.  If anyone can confirm the entries are correct that would be magic.
