Do you know where George Green was born?

Do you know where any of his children were born?

Did he come to Scotland after his marriage to Jane in Stockport?

I couldn't find any George Greens born 1843 +/- 5 years with a wife Jane in the 1881 Scottish Cencus.

Sorry,

Anne

Hi Anne...thanks for looking. According to "Who Was Who" he was born in Stockport Dec 15th 1843. He married a Jane Heywood although she is also known as Mary...I haven't found a record of marriage yet so they may not have officially been man and wife. They had 1 son and 6 daughters. He lived at Methven, Balshagray Avenue, Partick, Glasgow and as he contested Glasgow in 1895 he must have been there then...any census details gratefully received...Jim

Hi Jim,

They don't appear to be in Scotland for the 1881 Cencus.

There's only two George Greens (Scottish Lowlands) born anywhere near 1843 (one in 1841, the other 1844) the second one had a wife Mary, four sons but was born and lived in Girvan (Ayrshire).

Perhaps someone with details of the 1891/1901 could find them for you.

Have you tried posting a message in the 'Lookups' section?

Anne

It would appear that the 1881 census is not the correct George Green, but I put it in anyway.

Thanks for the reply.... there must be something in the air as I have just received a similar contact from a cousin of yours. My great grandmother was a friend of George's and I have photographs he sent to her. Her brother Joseph and George were best friends and married sisters and later joined the Pru together. I would very much like to exchange information and photographs with you. Please get in touch. Jim
