I noticed the surname of Rooney, have you done a search on Rooney as I know that name has came up - and I have just done a quick search as well -
I can tell you I came across some Rooney graves several weeks ago at Egremont (Whitehaven Registration District)

I didn't take any details I just noticed the name

Anyway have a go, and have you tried doing a google search on "Rooney"

Hi Andrew

Thank you for your two emails you are an absolute star.......

I had already seen this two websites/queries and although they are fascinating they are not part of my tree.

I thought the photo's were fantastic, I love looking at victorian photo's, for some reason they seem to say alot more than some of todays.

My father was born in Egremont although he moved away when he was two, but for the first time in ..... years we were actually in that graveyard two weeks ago and took some photo's.

The grave concerned is that of my paternal gr grandparents and their son James.  They actually died in Leicester 10 and 20 years after they moved away but both were taken back at their request.

It was the first time I had seen them and the first my dad had seen them in 50 years.  It was very moving.

Whilst we were up there for the week we went to the Florence Pit museum which is where both my maternal and paternal grandfathers worked in the 1920's.  We actually went down 285 ft to the pit face it was absolutely terrifying but worth every minute to be able to say that we stood where they had once worked.

While we were in the museum shop I actually bought the database for Egremont Cemetery on CDrom as I know other relations are buried there ie members of the Bone famiy (paternal gr gr grandparents), but I cannot get it to work on my pc for some reason.  I keep meaning to ring the company who produced it, as the phone number is inside but its one of those jobs that keeps getting delayed for some reason.

Many many thanks for your time and hope to communicate again with you soon.

Take care

Little Lil

Sorry these sites were of no use, but I liked those pictures as well, the young lady standing beside the baby is (in the nicest way) a very attractive lady, the elderly lady holding the baby looks like she is about to eat it

I pass the "florence mine" every day on the way to work and have never visited it, strange

Good hunting

Hi Andrew

I am really thrilled that you remembered me.

Thank you for the information, I am not sure at the moment whether they are related as I know my direct ancestors came over here in 1854-56 (taken from the births of their children born on either side of the water) but I am led to believe that they followed siblings who I haven't found or know who to look for yet..............

The problem with the disc is that I am totally computer illiterate.  I now know that I don't have MS Dos on my pc and need it to run the disc.  The questions are can I get it (free if pos), and if not is there another way to run the disc.

How's your hunting going?

Take care

What kind of PC have you  got is it a "Mac"? I thought they all the others ran with DOS?

My searches are at a bit of a halt at the moment on certain legs and others I keep getting interesting information, such as being related to one of the designers of the steam locomotive, it wasn't Stephenson he just won a race and designed the Rocket, there was a few like him

and I think I could be related to one of the first recorded cases of "binge drinking" I found a inquest into the death of a teenager in the late 1700's three of them had a bet that my possible relation couldn't drink "nyne noggins of brandy" about a litre and a half to day, in them days it was a lot stronger than the 40% we have today, anyway he won his bet collapsed and died a day later unable to talk or recognise people
