Hi again, Lisa,
I've been busy a couple of days earlier than I expected at the CCRO today, and it's a bit of a list, but I hope you find some of it useful...
In the Great Wibraham transcripts, there was quite a bit of name variation, i.e. ALLISON, ALLISTON(E), ALLERSTON, but I'm sure we're talking about the same family.
Marriage: 05-12-1758 Robert ALLISON (signs ALLISTON) to Mary DURRANT both of this parish. Witnesses: John Pitches and John Durrant.
Baptisms: (Presumably their children).
24-12-1760: Margaret ALLISON (B.T. ALLISTONE) daughter of Robert and Mary.
14-11-1762: Robert ALLYSTONE son of Robert and Mary
05-05-1765: John ALLERSTON s. of Robert and Mary
24-08-1766: John ALLERSTON s. of Robert and Mary
19-02-1769: Margaret d. of Robert and Mary
05-05-1771 (but Bishop's Transcripts says 16-06-1771): Mary ALLESTONE d. of Robert and Mary
23-08-1772: Mary ALLISTON d. of Robert and Mary
05-11-1775: George ALLESTON s. of Robert and Mary.
The burials tell of a great deal of infant mortality for this family:
14-12-1760: Margaret ALLISTON
14-11-1762: Robert ALLISTON
05-05-1765: John ALLISTON
05-05-1771 (or 16-06-1771): Mary ALLISTON
05-11-1775: George ALLISTON
What is slightly puzzling about this is that it appears that George ALLISTON dies at birth, yet the following marriage is:
30-12-1794: George ALLISTON bachelor and Ann FROMANT spinster b.o.t.p. Witnesses: Charles Dawson and Richard Stubbing.
There's another marriage between:
29-05-1780: Mary ALISTON widow and Joseph RIVERS widower b.o.t.p. by licence. Witnesses: Thomas Watson Ward and Nathan Benson
This last marriage actually tends to suggest that maybe Mary ALISTON's husband Robert dies some time between 1775 and 1780, but I'm still confused about the two George's - it's a pity that age at death was not mentioned in these registers until later on in the 19thC.
I also have details about the FROMANT family in Wibraham, but I'm taking a breather now, and will be back again soon...
Very best wishes,
keith
p.s. The more I look at that 1775 burial for George ALLISON, the less I like it - I'm pretty sure I saw it and copied it down correctly, but maybe it's a mistake...
