Census lookup Andrew Kirkland please

I have Andrew KIRKLAND and Jeanie MILLIKEN as parents of James KIRKLAND born 1831 Blantyre.

I'd like to locate Andrew and Jeanie in the 1851, 1861 or 1871 Census.  I haven't yet found their marriage, deaths or any other children.

James was in Hutchiestoun in 1861 and Calton in 1871 so I'm hoping his parents are also in Glasgow.

Any help would be great, thanks.

The 1851 index for Lanarkshire County has the following Andrew & Jean Kirkland living in Dalziel ...... they may or may not be yours (its also interesting to note that there is another (older) Andrew & Jean listed nearby.)

Sorry, I meant to add that I can find no trace of the family in the 1851 index for Glasgow.

As son John was born 1831 it's possible the older Andrew and Jean were his parents and the younger Andrew a brother.  I'll look into that further.

I've re checked the 1851 index for both Glasgow and Lanarksire county areas with no trace of the John age between 18 - 22.

There is one john in Lanarkshire but by the grouping I would say that his father is also named John and so not the one you seek.....

Do you have any further details on James Kirkland ... there is also a James Kirkland and family living in Dalziel in the 1851 index .... Dalziel seems quite popular amongst the Kirkland families.

The above should have read son James born 1831.

I have Census entries for James 1861-1901 birthplace given on all as Blantyre, birthdate about 1831 (not found IGI or OPR). He was a Cotton Spinner and for all Census was in Lanarkshire.

James married Jane Campbell in Feb 1851 at Gorbals (OPR). Jane's birthplace is consistently Paisley, Renfrewshire.

James died April 1901 and his death entry in the Register has given me his parent's names.

I've looked for the deaths of Andrew and Jeanie post 1855 in Lanarkshire, estimating their births about 1780-1810, but haven't found any that fit.

I've also not found their marriage or any other children on IGI or OPR's, which is making the search a bit more difficult!

I was hoping a Census entry would help me with this family, but it's possible they had died before 1851.

Although you probably already have the details there is a James and Jane in the 1851 index who are of the right age group

I didn't have the 1851 Census details for James. I'm sure this must be my couple -  recently married and their first child Andrew was born the following year.
