1841 census help
« on: Wednesday 05 October 05 01:22 BST (UK) »
Hi
Seeking John Fairey( various spellings), wife Mary & son James aged about 10. There may also be a daughter Naomi born circa 1835.  Of course there may be other children of whom I am unaware.

James died in 1905 in NZ . On the death cert it says his father was John Fairey and mother Mary Voss.
Naomi died in Australia as Naomi Bodger. The same parents are named on her death cert.
Grateful for any sightings!
Regards
Marlene

I have in my Bodger/Wright tree James Bodger b24/4/1831 marriage to Naomi Fairey 1859 ref St Neots, 1859 vol 3b page 467 quarter unknown. She was born 1835 Easton, died 1880 in Emerdale (or Eversdale) Victoria, Australia. They had one child, a son, John Charles William Fairey Bodger, b 1875 Eversdale, Victoria, Australia. Baptised in Carngham Church. James and Naomi lived in Aldershot, Hants on the 1861 Census, he was a shoemaker, she a Milliner. In 1865 they emigrated to Australia, James's sister Sarah was already out there, in Carngham, married to John Saunders Wright. James and his son returned to England after Naomi's death. He lived with Joseph Wright on his return then remarried to Ann.
Hope this fills in a bit of detail for you.

Hi
Thanks for the info - most of which we had . The real question behind the posting was to solve the mystery of James & Naomi's mother being a Voss! Turns out she was probably an illegitimate daughter! AND John Fairey married twice each time to a Mary just to complicate matters.
Do you have any idea what happened to Naomi's son?
Cheers
Marlene
