Is there a surviving census for Castlepollard+1821?
« on: Wednesday 05 October 05 10:19 BST (UK) »
I know that only a few census survived, but can anybody tell me whether an 1821 census for Castlepollard survived?

Many thanks....

Hello June,

A surviving census for Castlepollard does not exist.
The URL below shows records of census substitutes for Co. Westmeath.

June,

What are the names of your Castlepollard ancestors. All is not yet lost. You keep on hoping and leave it to the Irish to do the digging. We have a great team of ancestor hunters on Roots Chat here in Ireland. When you post the name please post dates and the Christian faith followed by those ancestors of yours.

Best Wishes, Christopher

They had a large family, which I have found in the 1901 and 1911 census data.  The head of the family Philip was an auctioneer in Castlepollard.  Both Philip, his wife Anne and their first 2 children Thomas and Patrick have been entered on the latterday saints website as having been born in Castlepollard? Although they were at Tonashammer, Hilltown in the 1901 and 1911 census.

Here goes:

(c1830 or c1833)  Husband - Catholic - Philip COYLE
(c1843)                 Wife        - Catholic - Anne COYLE (nee Cleary)
(1864)                   Son        - Catholic - Thomas COYLE
(1867)                   Son        - Catholic - Patrick COYLE
(1869) - twin         Son        - Catholic - Edward COYLE
(1869) - twin         Son        - Catholic - John COYLE
(1870)                   Son        - Catholic - James COYLE
(1871)                   Daught   - Catholic - Maria COYLE
(1874)                   Son        - Catholic - Philip COYLE
(1876)                   Son        - Catholic - Matthew COYLE
(1879)                   Daught   - Catholic - Ellen COYLE
(1881)                   Daught   - Catholic - Margaret COYLE
(1884)                   Daught   - Catholic - Elizia, Eliza or Elizabeth COYLE

Regards, June :)
