Looking for D H Lawrence expert (Louie Burrows)
« on: Wednesday 05 October 05 20:42 BST (UK) »
I am looking for all information on Louie (Louisa) Burrows 1888-1962. She was engaged to D H Lawrence from 1910-1912 and she lived in Church Cottage, Cossall. His book The Rainbow was based on his relationship with her and she was Ursula in the book.

Her father was Alfred Burrows b 1865, the brother of my greatgrandfather Frank.

I have the 1891 and 1901 census data for her but any other information on her or her family would be great.

Thanks

Jane

Catherine

Thanks for the link. I know about the letters at the university, we found the connection in the 1960s when an English Professor we knew was doing the research and asked us if we were the same Burrows family. Mum and Dad didn't know until then. I will have to arrange to see the letters which apparently I can do that by prior arrangement and with good enough reason. I think being a relative is good enough.

The link is great because I have never seen a picture of her before.
