« on: Friday 07 October 05 13:30 BST (UK) »
My Grandfather Alexander OBrien was born at New Row in 1906.  His father was John (a blacksmith) and came from Canada.  Many relatives back in Canada (Toronto area).  Any ideas anybody.
O'Brien (Coleraine/Canada/Donaghadee)
Milliken (Belfast and others)

Hiya Gary,

I feel that with the surname O'Brien the family may well have emigrated to Canada at one stage and returned to Ireland where your grandfather was born. What information do you need? Do you know the name of John's wife? Did John marry in Ireland or was he married when he arrived from Canada? Was John the only member of the family to come to Ireland? I wonder why he came to Ireland ... maybe O'Brien relations were in the country or possibly relations of his wife?

All the Best, Christopher
