Photo restoration please

This is my first posting.  Would love to see how the experts on here could repair/refine this old photograph of my Nan with her father (I think).  Over to you

I thought I'd give this a go as an enhancement rather than just a straight repair. I've never done one before, and I'm just finding my way round Photoshop, so it was a perfect opportunity to work on a good source picture.

I've repaired it, then de-focused everything but the two people and tried to make them stand out slightly from the background. Shadows were darkened, highlights lightened, and generally tweaked.

This was such a good quality picture, obviously taken by a good quality photographer, that I didn't want to change too much.

I love both the latest pictures.  Not too keen on coloured photographs but I must say you have done it very tastefully Meldrew, just a hint of colour which throws a different light onto the picture.

Glen, I must compliment you if this is your first attempt the picture is now larger than life and I do like the way the figures jump out at you from the background.

Great work everybody I will keep all three copies.  Thank you for your time and patience.

I sometimes see a new character looking out when I colour. One little girl looked out with such lovely eyes it was a bit alarming!

After all its only a pic on the board, no harm done to the original, thats the most important thing.
