Sale Moor birth
« on: Sunday 09 October 05 19:46 BST (UK) »
Can anyone advise me where I could find the birth/christening of Hannah Davenport daughter of John Davenport (occupation Hatter) circa 1820 in Sale/Sale Moor? I cannot find any reference to BMD's in Sale and wondered if I am looking in the wrong place. :'(

Hannah married James Smith in 1843 at St Luke's Church, Cheetham, Manchester.

Thanks Margaret :)

Hi Margaret

The IGI shows several children baptised to a John and Hannah Davenport at St Martins Ashton upon Mersey which was the parish church covering the Sale area in the early part of the 1800's.

http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp?PAGE=igi/search_IGI.asp&clear_form=true

Included in the index are Hannah 14/7/1822, Jane 7/2/1819 and Mary 17/7/1810.

You can email the Cheshire records at the address on the link below to obtain the full details from the parish registers.

Hopefully they are the right family

Hi Peter

Thank you so much for your prompt reply. It looks like the right Hannah. Hurrah!! I have been looking for nearly two years for her birth.

Regards Margaret  :)
