1841 Census- Mary Ann Parsons c. 1830
« on: Sunday 09 October 05 21:45 BST (UK) »
I am looking for information on Mary Ann Parsons (c. 1830), daughter of John Parsons of St. Helier.

She was married to a John Fowler of Combe St. Nicholas, Somerset on Feb. 09, 1850 in St. Saviour.

Are there church records available for marriages at that time?

I would appreciate any information that could be provided.

Thanks you very much!!

Renee

Hi Renee

I don't know if you have looked at the 1841 CI census on line at http://members.shaw.ca/jerseymaid/index.html

I had a quick scan for Mary Ann Parsons but didn't find her.  Maybe a more careful look, with variant spelling, might be fruitful for you.

There are parish registers for St Saviour's at the Jersey Archives.  I'll try to look the marriage up if I get some time when they are open.

Hi Renee -

I had a a search for this marraige, with not much success.  :(

It is not in the St Saviour parish index 1847-1853 or St Helier parish church 1847-1859.   What is the source of your information - and can you be any more specific about the name of the church etc?

I also had a look for a birth for Mary Ann Parsons circa 1830, and only found the following in St Helier parish church baptisms -

Mary Ann Parsons  3.10.1830  fille William et Joannah (gp. William Williams et  Sarah Williams)

Mary Jane Parsons  3.8.1829 fille John et Grace  (gp. Henry Philippe, Sarah Raymond).

Of course, she may not have been baptised in St Helier.  Can you be sure about the names / birth details?

Also -  just in case the marriage date is incorect, I had a look in the 1851 census and found:
St Helier district 5
FOWLER John - farm servant, unm,  19  born: England

St Saviour
PARSONS  Mary Ann visitor  25  dressmaker  b: St Helier
and
PARSON  Mary Ann    house servant 20 b; ST Helier

I know this may not help you much - but please let me know if there is something more to go on.
