SO...is there a difference??
« on: Monday 10 October 05 18:36 BST (UK) »
Hello Folks
Could anyone please tell me if St Paul's Cray and St Mary's Cray, both in Kent, are one and the same?  If they're not, how far apart?  Are they indeed, different parishes?

Reason I'm enquiring is that the notification of place of birth has changed from one to another between census.....I wonder if the old boy forgot the places of birth of his children?? ???

As usual, I'd be most grateful for your assistance.

Googling should have taken you to a suitable site to answer this sort of query. Try this site www.nwkfhs.org.uk

Hi Smuckerooney,

They are very close.  The churches are about a mile apart.  See this map:

http://www.streetmap.co.uk/newmap.srf?x=546646&y=168861&z=3&sv=st+pauls+cray

In my tree I've often had place of birth change between censuses.  And by much more than a mile.  Enough for me to consider that in your example they are to all intents and purposes the same place.

Genuki has them listed as separate parishes

click on the NWKFHS links on the above page for more info.

Hope this helps
