nicol,s of banffshire

looking for help tracing nicol family from fordyce, gamrie, deskford and cluny area,s
have got back to 1800 but am now stuck.
last name i have isjohn nicol married to margaret currie, i have no info on them. i know thatone of there sons was  james nicol (b. 1800 in deskford) he married janet robb. i know he lived at garden st, macduff in march 1864. he was a carter and feuar.
if anyone can help i would be most grateful
