Harris from Bristol
« on: Thursday 13 October 05 12:07 BST (UK) »
William Harris age 19 came to Australia in 1849.
His parents were Frederick and Eliza living in Bristol.
We are wondering how we could find out if he had siblings/
We do not know when Frederick married Eliza.
Can anyone help ?

Thanks so much Susan and Jan

It looks like William's family :-)
He came here as an assisted emigrant and the shipping records only give the parents names not the fathers occupation.

Thanks again :-)

Sorry to be ignorant - what does F S mean ? (Mary Bindell 20 in 1841)

Could we ask for a lookup for this family in 1861 please ?

THANK YOU  ;D

Hi Alex & Jan,

F. S. - Female.  Single.  (I think  ::) )  Perhaps Jan will confirm  :)

The only family member I can find in 1861, so far, is Frederick's brother James.

RG9/1727  folio 86  page 52  Clifton, Bristol

James Harris   Head  Un  47  Builders Clerk  Bristol St. Augustine
Eliza Robbinson  servant  Un 24  House servant  Glos. Almondsbury

There is a possibility for Eliza but not sure

RG9/1734  folio 25  page 2  St. Philip & Jacob Bristol

Philip Alfred Ward Smith  Head  Widower  45  Proprietor of four houses
                                                       St.Mary Redcliffe Bristol
George Philip Alfred Ward Smith  son  unm  16  Apprentice -----?   -----?
                                                                                  Bristol
Eliza Harris  servant unmarried  50  House servant  St.Michael City of
                                                                                                  Bristol

Could they have emigrated also?

Will check 1871.
