Going ashore on VE Day
« on: Thursday 13 October 05 23:08 BST (UK) »
I wonder if anyone would be kind enough to have a go at tidying up a photo of my late granddad.  Apparently the photograph was taken on VE day and I'd love to be able to give a copy to my grandmother.  Many thanks in advance

Anji,

Just a quick note to say a big welcome to RootsChat - just noticed that this is your first posting.

It's quite amazing what some of these RootsChatters can do with photographs - so (fingers crossed) I hope you won't be dissapointed.

Hi AnjiM,
Unfortunately the resolution is so low that it is hard to get in and see the detail. If you could rescan it at 300ppi and repost it we may be able to do a better job.

I have had a go at the picture you have posted and you can see I straightend the photo and cleaned up the cracks. But like I said earlier a larger scan will give better results.

Hi AnjiM

As per deadants & gippeswyc we need a high res scan to make it look great, here is my version of the low res.

Thank you all so much for the wonderful attempts!  I really appreciate your efforts.

I don't have the original photo but I shall definately try and get hold of it to re-scan.  I'd love to see what you can achieve with a better resolution!  I'll be back........
