Can you help with 1841 Reading, please?
« on: Friday 14 October 05 21:25 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find more information relating to James Dearlove and his wife, Mary. They were probably both born in Reading, James c.1805 and Mary c.1809.

In 1840 they had the birth and death of a son, James. The birth address was registered as Regents Wharf, Reading.

Can anyone see them on the 1841 census for me, please?

Hi

Found this in the 1841 census for Reading. Although the description of the district mentions Regents Wharf the entry was found between Boults Wharf and Ort Road (Lane).

HO 107/34/3 sched 15 Reading St Giles.

Jas Dearlove age 35
Mary age 28 (poss 25)
Wm age 15
Mary Ann age 11

looks as if all were born in county except for Mary Ann

Mike,

It definitely looks like I should track down the original of what you have found for more clues.  (I have a feeling there was another Dearlove family having children nearby on Regents Wharf in the 1840's. William sounds familiar. Brother? Nephew? Earlier son?)

Thank you so very much for your help.
