Hi Sid ...

It was definitely James HATHAWAY who was baptised in 1841 (as on my original list).

These are the only HATHAWAY burials on the Handborough PRs:

11 DEC 1844 - HATHAWAY, Harriet, Freeland, 17 mos
23 AUG 1852 - HATHAWAY, William, 1 day
17 JAN 1855 - HATHAWAY, Arthur, 8 mos

Three rather sad entries (but no sign of an Ann).

Hello Pennie

Thank you once again for the express service

This family fills me with confusion. This could be my in-experience and the fact I have not really started on them yet though.

Very nice to hear from you again

Regards
Sid

Hello Pennie
I am looking for your assistance again please
I have been unable to actively do any delving due to home circumstances,so have spent snatches collating all the information I have acquired so far
The Freeland HATHAWAY family ,to date seems to have comprised,in abreviated format ,
JOHN b~1813 Eynsham,working in Worcs 1861,believed died J1874 age 63
SOPHIA b~1815 Handborough,married 1834,after 1861 census completely vanishes
ANN b~1838 Eynsham,1851 appears thereafter missing [a Anns death appears Witney D1857]
JOHN b~1839 Hanborough at home 1851 & 61 believed died S1874 age 35
JAMES b~1841       "           1861 working at Heythrop then goes missing
THOMAS  b~1846  "   ,married Chelsea 1869 ,sons THOMAS b 1870; JOHN b~1872 : possibly SOPHIA b~1872 d same year;WILLIAM b~ ?;GEORGE b 1889
HARRIET b~1848 Hanborough. In 1871 was working in Dartford Kent thereafter vanishes
EMMA b~ 1850         "             "      "    "         "       "   Culham Oxon     "            "
WILLIAM b~1852      "          d same year
ELIZA b~1856          "  Still at home 1871 then vanishes

On the subject of local PRs - what is the cut off date of the entries?
I have found 29 Hathaway/Witney GRO birth entries for the period 1838-60 and I would be interested in any additions to the above family in the missing years 1841-6 : 52-6 and 1857 onwards. I am trusting to a sympathetic instinct regarding the 2 year gaps

Regards
sid

Hi Sid ...

The Handborough PRs that I have go up to 1860.

Excluding any entries that I've already given you, these are the ones that appear in the PRs for the periods you mention:

1861-1846

BAPTISMS:

16 apr 1843 - HATHAWAY, Thomas, s. James and Charlotte, lab, Ensham
23 MAR 1845 - HATHAWAY, Fanny, d. James and Charlotte, lab, Freeland
03 MAY 1846 - HATHAWAY, Thomas, s. John and Sophia, lab

BURIAL:

11 DEC 1844 - HATHAWAY, Harriet, Freeland, 17 mos

1852-1856

BAPTISM:

25 JUN 1854 - HATHAWAY, Arthur Thomas, s. Edward and Emma, lab

BURIALS:

17 JAN 1852 - HATHAWAY, Joseph, 95
17 JAN 1855 - HATHAWAY, Arthur, 8 mos

MARRIAGE:

22 SEP 1851 - HATHAWAY, Edward, full, b, lab, father decd. to CLARK, Sarah, full, wid, gloveress, d. Joseph WHITLEY, lab.  Witnesses:  William COCKHEAD and Maria COCKHEAD

1857-1860

BAPTISM:

28 AUG 1859 - HATHAWAY, William, s. James and Charlotte, lab, Freeland

Coincidentally, the Sarah CLARK (nee WHITLEY) mentioned above is - I'm fairly sure - the sister of one of my direct WHITLEY ancestors!
