Barwick, Margaret 1834 Loftus/Osmotherley

HI Oly, 
Looking at the above ,am wondering if this is the right Margaret (6 years out in age, although not impossible it's her). Wondered if you had 1841 census for Lofthouse, N.Yorks too? AS on some census she is listed as being here. If not don't worry. Don't want to be too cheek & push my luck when you've been kind enough already

Hello Mark

I have looked at the other Lofthouse and Loftus, given in the place index for 1841 in Yorkshire, no other incidence of Barwick. I am pretty sure the two families I posted are related with Ann as the joining force. See 1851 census when Richard is a widow living with mum.
I think Margaret must have been at her other grandmas in 1851. The one I posted being her cousin. When the full 1841 index is done we shall know.
The answer to all this would be a call for help to Cleveland FHS to get the Parish Record look up. They have a surname interest page with a Richard and Jenny researching Barwick, if that is not you, it would be worth contacting them through -

to exchange knowledge.
If you come up with any further details with reference to Census we can try again.

Hi Mark,

Have you thought about a cemetary search. I live near Osmotherley and was married there. Next time I am in Village I could have a wander round the graves for you and see if there are any stones for the King family.

No problem, the snow has gone now. I have to go to Osmotherly in 2 weeks to take my daughter to see the vicar as she is getting married there next year so while they are talking weddings I will have a wander around the Cametary for you.

Hi Mark,

A little mote information for you.
Leonard King and Margaret Barwicks daughter Jane Ann King married Lister Beecroft in Osmotherley in 1874, they had 4 children all born in Osmotherley.
In the 1901 census they were listed as:-
Lavinia  age 18
Harry age 15
Betsy  age 12
Mary  age 9

Another of Leonard and Margaret Kings daughters Mary Hannah married William Dennis in 1875 not sure if they had any children. In 1901 they were living in Brompton near Northallerton. William Dennis was a boot and shoe maker. In Northallerton we have a shoe repair shop called Dennis and Parry which was established in the 1850s, there is a possability this could be the same family. These are the only two of Leonard and Margarets children I have managed to trace so far. Still have the cemetary to search yet.

Thanks for your ongoing interest in the Barwicks.
I did have the marriage between Jane Ann & Lister but not the 4 children you've listed. Also have the marriage (Christmas day 1875) of  Mary Hannah & William Dennis - they had 6 Children (Mary Jane 1880, Margaret E 183, William 1886, Arthur 1891, Hilder 1894, & Blanch 1899).  Interesting thought aboutthe shoe shop - do you know if any records exist that could give me information on whether it is this Dennis family?

I look forwar dto hearing about the churchyard visit.
